The high hopes of the Oluyole Warriors in securing a good result on the road was deflated as the host Lobi Stars got the upper hand in the Week 21 Nigeria Professional Football League.

The game started on a lively note as Lobi Stars got the game underway. The host team made their intention known with an attacking instinct but Shooting Stars defence line led by Olabisi Samuel was able to curtail the earlier exchanges and brought the game to sanity.

The visiting team paraded most of their mid season signings with the midfield diamond of Adebayo, Olaifa, Nonso and Adebogun, while Ajani took the centre forward position.

Shooting Stars goalie Charles Tambe was tested as early as he 6th minute of the game. On the 10th minute mark, Lobi Stars took the lead with Kingsley Eduwo header. There was still so much to play for as Shooting Stars was giving Lobi occasional counter attacks but none was threatening to Lobi Stars goal.

The homers had a resolute defence line that was hard to break for the visitors. Shooting got a free kick at the 35th minute but this was blocked to safety.

Kingsley Eduwo once again latched on to a Shooting Stars defensive lapse and made it 2-0 in favour of the Makurdi boys. That brought first half to an end; both teams returned to the locker room.

At the resumption of second half, 3SC withdrew Tayo Adebogun for Assiri Emmanuel to fortify the attack. Shortly after, Adetoyi’s header was rolling into the net for a consolatory goal until a Lobi defender cleared this off the net.

From then on, it was forays of attack from Lobi Stars. Shooting showed some Intermittent attacking displays in between and this saw Ajani Ibrahim trampled upon by the big Lobi defenders.

Abayomi Junior came on for Nonso Ogbonna at the 63rd after the latter was exhausted. This substitution changed the pattern of play as Shooting Stars took over the attack and put Lobi defenders at the back foot. Abayomi, Assiri and Ajani kept on pressing but Okeimute Odah in goal for Lobi would keep the situation safe in goal.

Lobi Stars exchanged Tyakase for Paul Onobi at the 80th minute. The game wore on till the 85th minute when Shooting Stars’ Abayomi was brandished the yellow card for an infringement. On the 89th minute, Sunny Ekleche made it 3 for Lobi and the scoreline remained the same till the end of the match.

The result means Shooting Stars has lost 6 points in 2 matches and still rooted in the relegation zone. The next two matches are at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba and we will continue to fight until the end.
